PERJAMUAN KUDUS MENURUT 1 KORINTUS 10-11 DAN FUNGSINYA DALAM LENSA PSIKOLOGI AGAMA
Abstract
The holy communion is a special and sacred gathering for believers, as an occasion where they partake of the body and blood of Christ through the bread and wine. Some Christians respond to the holy communion enthusiastically through various meanings, for example as the real presence of the Lord Jesus in bread and wine (transubstantiation), a means of healing the sick, and as a moment of reconciliation between church members. Others are not very enthusiastic in taking part this sacrament. Thus some Christians see the holy communion as having a supernatural and social function, but some do not understand its function at all. Through a combination of biblical methods and the psychology of religion, this article attempts to present the meaning of the holy communion which is lifted from 1 Corinthians 10-11 through a thematic analysis method and looks at its function from the lens of the psychology of religion. As the results, holy communion can be interpreted as koinonia, eucharistia, memorabilia, kerugma, and self-schema, while its functions include cognitive, emotive, and collective aspects.
